The Asheville Highlanders had to overcome a fine performance from Providence pitcher David Fisher to grab a 2-1 win at Asheville Park. Fisher allowed 1 run over 7.1 innings. Asheville is now 49-32, while Providence is 46-35.
Juan Santos won the game for Asheville when homered off Juan Morales in the bottom of the ninth.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Santos told the Asheville Gazette.
