Hogan Twirls a Gem for Providence
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Providence Pilgrims and the Billings Polar Bears, pitcher Mark Hogan was the difference between victory and defeat. The Providence right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Pilgrims win. Juan Mermea collected his 23rd save. The Pilgrims are now 42-33, while the Polar Bears fall to 33-42.
Hogan, the winner, is now 6-4. In 8 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 4 hits, while collecting 7 Ks. He essentially shut down the Billings offense.
"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Hogan. "Winning helps."
