Skidding Polar Bears Lose 7th Straight
The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats defeated the Billings Polar Bears, 9-8, at Heron Field. Lake Minnetonka designated hitter Francis Caswell had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The slumping Polar Bears have lost 7 straight.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 8-8, catcher Sergio Méndez won it for Lake Minnetonka. With a runner on 2nd, Méndez hit a 1-0 curveball from Bob Robinson for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 9-8 win.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Méndez told the Lake Minnetonka Citizen.
