In a well-pitched game between the Mississippi Mockingbirds and the Boston Patriots, pitcher Noud Taaij was fantastic. The Mississippi right-hander helped his team secure the win, 3-1. Taaij got the win, improving to 12-4. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Taaij allowed 1 run. After today's action, Mississippi sits at 45-41; Boston slips to 40-46.
Mississippi used the timely hitting of Ai-de Lau to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Lau.
