New Orleans Beats Pittsburgh, 4-1
|
New Orleans got a strong outing from Anthony Coleman as the Voodoo defeated the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 4-1, at Pittsburgh Grounds. Coleman, the winner, moves to 8-4. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Herman Stone earned save number 7 this season.
New Orleans relied on the bat of Francisco De La Cruz to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 3-0. For the game, De La Cruz had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Coleman said.
New Orleans, at 56-29, is 3½ games up in the Premier League.
