Highlanders Score 2-1 Win Over St. Petersburg
|
St. Petersburg wasted a solid 9-inning effort from starting pitcher Colm Broomfield, losing to Asheville, 2-1, at Baby Thunder Dome. Anthony Patterson earned the win for Asheville. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 1-2. John Banks, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
José Aguilar took Colm Broomfield deep in the top of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Highlanders on top, 2-1. In all, Aguilar had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Aguilar told the Asheville Gazette.
Asheville has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
