Thunder Earn 3-2 Win Versus Pilgrims
|
The St. Petersburg Thunder stopped the Providence Pilgrims, 3-2, behind an impressive performance from César Alaniz. The 23-year old second baseman made life miserable for Providence pitching. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. St. Petersburg pitcher Mathew Ferguson got the win. He's now 2-0. Flynn Prince was tagged with the loss. Michael Pace picked up the save, his 8th.
Alaniz had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Thunder went on to win.
"Nervous? No," said Alaniz. "It was my time to shine."
At 19-20, St. Petersburg is in 5th place in the Silver AA.
