Billings wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Cole Dawes, falling to the Bethesda Atoms, 3-2. Dawes threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The first-place Atoms have a one-game lead in their division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Bethesda second baseman David Nielsen, facing Jack Autry, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Atoms the 3-2 win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Nielsen.
