Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Polar Bears
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Billings Polar Bears overcame a fine performance by Lake Minnetonka catcher Jemke Boer to defeat the Love Boats, 7-5, at Heron Field. Boer went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Cole Dawes locked down his 8th save.
Billings used the timely hitting of Monte Willis to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Polar Bears on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Billings manager .
The third-place Polar Bears raised their record to 17-15.
