Guinea Pigs Pick Up 3-1 Win
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs beat the Billings Polar Bears, 3-1, at Experimental Stadium. Ahti Riikonen, in particular, was impressive. He was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Yura Hrustalyov. He's now 3-1. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits for the Guinea Pigs. Picking up the save was Rex Davis, his 6th.
In the bottom of the fourth, Gwinnett designated hitter Dale Wallace had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Wallace stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 2-1, Gwinnett. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Wallace.
Gwinnett's record now stands at 12-13, placing them 5th in the Silver AA.
