Polar Bears Stick Dolphins with 3-2 Loss
|
Billings beat Pine Island at The Igloo, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Karst Lourens. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Billings reliever Nelson Shaffer picked up the win to move to 1-1. Shang-de Rang suffered the loss. The loss drops Pine Island to 8-10.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Polar Bears had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when left fielder Héctor Mata hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Benjamin Crump and made the score 1-0, Polar Bears. Mata went 1-2 with a walk.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Mata told the Billings Bulletin.
