Highlanders Get Close Win Over Polar Bears, 7-6
|
Nathan Pretty made an impact in the 7-6 Asheville win over Billings. Pretty, who is tied for 3rd in the SAA in runs scored with 11, was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3. The winner was Asheville reliever Chong-yee Galván, now 2-1. The loser was Lao King. The loss lowers the Billings record to 6-8.
Had Gabriel Montaño not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Montaño hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Highlanders.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Asheville manager Robby Long.
