Highlanders Edge Guinea Pigs, 2-1
|
Asheville got a first-rate effort from pitcher Anthony Patterson, who frustrated Gwinnett hitters en route to a 2-1 Highlanders triumph at Experimental Stadium. Reliever Chong-yee Galván picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Daisuke Yoshikawa took the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Yermolay Olhivsky.
Asheville used the clutch hitting of Nathan Pretty to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Highlanders the lead, 1-0. For the game, Pretty had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Asheville manager Robby Long.
Gwinnett is 5-4 after the loss.
