Atoms Top Billings, 3-2
|
The Bethesda Atoms got a good effort from starter Bill Cole in defeating the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. The final score was 3-2. Tuomi Hattunen picked up the save for Bethesda, his 1st of the year. Bethesda has a mark of 4-0 after the win.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Nazeem Ala' came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Billings pitcher Nelson Shaffer, he hit a 2-0 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bethesda on top, 3-2.
"It was a test of wills," said Tabor de Maria, the Bethesda skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
