Miners Slap 4-1 Loss on Rails

The Marquette Miners got a strong performance from pitcher Jim Smith, who stymied the Richland offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Rails Ballpark. Smith picked up the win for Marquette, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 4-7. Getting the save was Nelson Carrasco, his 2nd.
The Miners got a big at-bat from center fielder Michael Young. For the game, Young went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Marquette a 1-0 lead.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Young.
