Miners Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Marquette Miners wiggled past the Ottawa Nationals, 3-2, at Nationals Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Marquette pitcher Ben Gallagher. Javier Cuesta notched his 18th save in 21 chances. Marquette is now 36-48, while Ottawa is 51-33.
Marquette used a clutch hit from Jerry Duggleby to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Miners ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
In comments to the Marquette Today, Duggleby admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
