Stanfield Lifts Loons to 6-5 Triumph
|
Toledo Backyard Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Minnesota Loons and Toledo Saboteurs.
The Minnesota Loons topped the Toledo Saboteurs by the score of 6-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Ray Stanfield. Stanfield went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Loons on the day. The winner in relief was Michael Kilshaw. He is now 2-4. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 3.1 innings.
Stanfield had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 slider from Miguel Ortíz, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Loons a 4-3 lead. It was the 9th double of the year for Stanfield.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Minnesota manager Eddie O'Bryan.
The Saboteurs, now 24-46, have lost 5 in a row.
