Loss to Miners Extends Richland Losing Streak
|
The Marquette Miners beat the Richland Rails, 5-3. Marquette pitcher and Jersey City, New Jersey, native Tim Everhart led the way. Everhart picked up the win for Marquette, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-6. The losses continue to pile up for Richland, which has now fallen 13 times in a row.
Marquette used the bat of Trent Terry to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Miners ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager George Sperber. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
