Miners Take Down Farmers, 6-4
|
The Marquette Miners beat the Lancaster Farmers, 6-4, at Farmers Field. The Miners got a fine performance from left fielder Jerry Duggleby, who went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times. Nelson Carrasco got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The 10th-place Miners go to 19-31.
Marquette needed the clutch hitting of George Williams to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Miners on top, 6-3. For the game, Williams had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Duggleby.
