The Ottawa Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, taking down the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 9-3. Starting pitcher Felipe Hernández was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Hernández, now 5-3. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Ottawa, now 30-15, holds down first place in the Menard's AA.

The Nationals got a big hit from first baseman Bill Martin. In the bottom of the fifth, Martin pounded a bases-clearing double to center. His 12th double of the season put the Nationals ahead, 9-1.

Hernández told the Ottawa News: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
