Westwood Topples Lancaster, 6-4
|
The Westwood Sixshooters weathered a fine game by Lancaster shortstop Celestino Canova to upend the Farmers, 6-4, at Farmers Field. Canova was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Larry Wilson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. With this game in the books, Westwood is 15-9, Lancaster 17-7.
Westwood used the timely hitting of Richard Carter to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Feels good to get the job done," Carter said after the game.
