Sixshooters Clip Farmers, 8-7
|
No one was more impactful than Tom Hancock in the 8-7 Westwood win over Lancaster. Hancock, who is tied for 10th in the 3AA in bases on balls with 12, went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Cory Fisher, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on no hits in 1.1 innings. The save went to Juan González, number 4 for him.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Bob Rice came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Lancaster pitcher Rodrigo Valderrábano, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Westwood on top, 8-7.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Lancaster manager Dave Davis. "The effort was great."
With the win, Westwood pushed its record to 14-8.
