Rails Take Down Miners, 4-3
|
Richland Rails starter Kaimalie Heathershaw pitched a strong game against the Marquette Miners at Marquette Stadium, leading the Rails to victory, 4-3. The winner in relief was Frank Smith. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0. The win puts Richland at 8-13.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jesse Hood, the 27-year old first baseman ? Hood stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to put Richland up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The game of baseball will test you," said George Sperber, the Richland skipper. "This one tested us."
