Late Magic Gets D.C. 3-2 Win
|
The D.C. Divided had to overcome a big game from Kingston Township first baseman Carlos Chávez to leave Washington Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 3-2. Chávez was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. D.C. reliever Marvello Manalo got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Gary Dillon was tagged with the loss. Augusto Rey finished the game for D.C. and earned his 8th save.
D.C. took a 3-2 lead on William Berg's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Berg hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Kingston Township pitcher Gary Dillon shaking his head.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Kingston Township manager Rayzor Ray.
The Divided saw their win-loss record go to 48-33. At the same time, the Knights fell to 32-49.
