The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids got a stellar performance from pitcher Nick Cole, who handcuffed the Nova Scotia offense en route to a win, 3-2, at The Dungeon in Halifax. Northern Virginia now owns a record of 34-42.

Northern Virginia used a timely hit from Chet Davis to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"We take it day by day here," said Cole, "and today was a good one for us."
