Dirty Reds Snatch Late Win
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds got a good effort from starter Peer Slooters in defeating the Baltimore Bullets at Lang Park. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Slooters, now 3-9. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 10. Cisco García was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 15 save opportunities.
Some sloppy defense hurt the Bullets. In the bottom of the eighth, with San Mateo trailing 2-1, Kawenaula Alohalani was at the plate when San Mateo scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Dirty Reds to go in front, 3-2.
Baltimore manager Brandon Slouck said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
At 28-38, the Dirty Reds find themselves in 9th place in the Premier League.
