Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Leviathan
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan relied on the hitting of first baseman Gareth Kvernoey to stop the Charleston Battery, 8-6. For the game, Kvernoey went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Robinson Espinoza snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-2 on the season. Jorge Valdéz finished to wrap up his 11th save.
Nova Scotia used a timely hit from Amaru Kishore to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Leviathan ahead, 8-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kvernoey.
The Leviathan sport a record of 26-41.
