Red Pandas 1B Chong hits 2 home runs in Win
|
In a close game at The Bamboo Forest, the Sioux Falls Red Pandas edged the Austin Black Mambas, 4-3. Sioux Falls first baseman Chin-seok Chong stood apart with his performance. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Sioux Falls reliever Jim Hunter was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was George Hensley. Earning his 7th save for Sioux Falls was Rodney Johnson.
Alfredo Pliego broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It put the Red Pandas in front, 4-3. For the game, Pliego drove in one run.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Sioux Falls manager Fred Leos.
Sioux Falls bumps their record to 51-38 with the win.
