Tight Tilt Goes to Flyers, 1-0
|
Austin pitcher Dan Sanders gave the Flyers all they could handle, but in the end, Pennsauken left Pennsauken Park with a win, 1-0. Sanders allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 8 innings. Bill Cole, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Tim Winson notched his 3rd save in 5 chances.
Had Yoshikazu Hashimoto not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hashimoto hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Flyers.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Hashimoto said.
The win lifted the Pennsauken record to 39-38.
