Golden Cranes Beat Flyers, 9-1
|
Santa Barbara used a superb performance from starting pitcher Larry Larsen to down the Pennsauken Flyers, 9-1. The Golden Cranes raised their record to 32-43.
With runs few and far between, the Golden Cranes had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Santa Barbara came in the bottom of the first inning, when left fielder Nick Widdop delivered a 2-run single. The single was hit off Bob Hickey and made the score 2-0, Golden Cranes. Widdop went 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Larsen.
