Syracuse and Sacramento got after it at Sacramento Sanitation Station.
Syracuse left-hander Dudley Malone pitched his team to victory over the Sacramento Redlegs at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 5-2. Malone got the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Malone allowed 2 runs.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Pablo Hernández to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
In comments to the Syracuse Daily News, Hernández insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
With the win, the Squirrel Monkeys have a record of 42-24.
