Flyers Top Ft. Myers, 4-3
|
The Pennsauken Flyers had to overcome a fine effort from Ft. Myers pitcher John Palmer to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Pennsauken Park. Palmer went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Pennsauken pitcher Tim Winson got the win. He's now 2-1. Joe Horne was tagged with the loss. Fernando Marín earned save number 3 this season.
Had Joe Rugman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Rugman hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Flyers.
Rugman called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The 8th-place Marlins have lost 5 consecutive games.
