Pride Hang 5-2 Loss on Flyers
|
The Hartford Pride topped the Pennsauken Flyers, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Pennsauken Park. The standout performance belonged to Hartford pitcher and Sandy Springs, Georgia, native Matthew Rentería. The winning pitcher was Rentería, now 7-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. With the win, Hartford pushed its record to 35-28.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Shawn Wilson, the 27-year old second baseman ? Wilson stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Hartford up, 4-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Matthew is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Hartford manager Terry King.
