Victory Over Red Pandas Takes Syracuse to 39-23
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys and the Sioux Falls Red Pandas. Syracuse won it, 2-0. Syracuse starter Steve Gourin was in command. After today's action, Syracuse sits at 39-23; Sioux Falls slips to 38-24.
Pablo Hernández took Francisco Hernández deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Squirrel Monkeys on top, 1-0. In all, Hernández had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
Gourin said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
