Squirrel Monkeys Spill Marlins, 3-0
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys racked up a win at League Park, bumping off the Ft. Myers Marlins, 3-0. Hunter Kirkland, who started for Syracuse, pitched effectively for his team. Kirkland picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. Bryce Poindexter picked up the save for Syracuse, his 7th of the year.
Iván Marrero had a critical at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth for Syracuse. He came through with a solo home run to put Syracuse in front, 2-0.
"It's a mindset," said Kirkland. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Squirrel Monkeys.
