Redlegs Cut Down Golden Cranes, 5-3
|
Santa Barbara second baseman Jeff Austin was sensational. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Sacramento beat the Golden Cranes, 5-3. The winner was Sacramento reliever Patrick Amador, now 1-0. The loser was Li-zhi Lai. Earning his 1st save of the year was Félix Hernández.
The Redlegs got a big at-bat from right fielder Raymond Evans. For the game, Evans went 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Sacramento a 4-2 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Evans told the Sacramento Herald. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
With the win, Sacramento improves its record to 1-1.
