Sioux Falls Beats Austin, 3-1
|
Mamba Park was the site of the home opener for the Austin Black Mambas. The contest featured a prime matchup between Marx Lieftink of the visiting Sioux Falls Red Pandas and Alan Sanderson of the Black Mambas. The final score was 3-1, the Red Pandas getting the win. Marx Lieftink turned in the best performance. Bertrand Scotton closed it out for his 1st save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Eldon Broadus? The Sioux Falls catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Pandas on top, 2-0. For the game, Broadus had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Sioux Falls manager Fred Leos said.
