Jayden Mcquade relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Baton Rouge hitless in a 3-0 win at Brass Field today.

"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Brass off balance and guessing the whole game."

The 24-year-old starter rung up 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Brass.

"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Baton Rouge skipper Daniel Edwards said.

For the season Mcquade has logged 3 wins and 6 losses and struck out 57 batters in 104.2 innings while compiling a 3.61 ERA.
