Nobles Suffer 5-1 Loss to Starks
|
The Syracuse Starks topped the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-1, in USPL Triple A action at Jerome Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Syracuse pitcher and Somerset, New Jersey, native Bryant Clark. Clark, now 5-7, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Syracuse is now 30-38. Bakersfield is 49-19.
Syracuse relied on the hitting of Mark Thomas to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Starks on top, 2-0. For the game, Thomas had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Clark told the Syracuse Daily News.
