Both teams had their chances, but the Hialeah Dodos eventually prevailed.
Led by Lee Montgomery, the Hialeah Dodos downed the Kansas Rainbeaus, 6-5. Montgomery went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Dodos. Eric Hurt, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Grant Gremel finished the game for Hialeah and earned his 19th save.
Montgomery had a timely hit for Hialeah in the top of the eighth. With Kansas trailing 5-3, he turned a 2-2 curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 6-5, Hialeah.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Montgomery told the Hialeah Bulletin.
The Dodos improved to 31-37.
