Mockingbirds Lose By a Run at San Mateo, 4-3
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the San Mateo Dirty Reds and Mississippi Mockingbirds.
The San Mateo Dirty Reds picked up a win at Lang Park, knocking off the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 4-3. Starting pitcher Sylvain Richard played a key role in the triumph. Richard, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Earning his 11th save of the year was Cisco García.
Had Matsusuke Saikawa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Saikawa hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Dirty Reds.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Richard told the San Mateo Gazette.
The Mockingbirds, at 24-22, have lost 5 in a row.
