Armando Moreno never let Hialeah get something going. The Bakersfield right-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Nobles to a 4-1 win. Moreno picked up the win for Bakersfield, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 8-0. Greg King picked up the save, his 6th.
Bakersfield used a well-timed hit by Herb Thomas to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Nobles ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"It's a mindset," said Moreno. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The Premier AAA-leading Nobles are 49-16.
