Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Humpbacks
|
The Hialeah Dodos got a superb performance from pitcher Jesús Ríos. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Alaskan. The Humpbacks won the game, 8-4. Ríos threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Alaskan reliever Poom Saksansin was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Grant Gremel. Gary Podell collected his 1st save.
Had Héctor Coríz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Coríz hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Humpbacks.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Kelly Flint said.
At 36-23, Alaskan is in second place in the Premier AAA.
