Tight Tilt Goes to Tritons, 2-1
|
The Port Royal Disaster got a sterling performance from pitcher Steve Sanford, but the Jersey City Tritons still prevailed, 2-1. Sanford threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The 5th-place Tritons have won 5 consecutive games.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Bill Jackson was at the plate when Jersey City scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Tritons to go in front, 2-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Jackson told the Jersey City Herald.
