Rocks Get Past Salt Lake City for 5-4 Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Plymouth Rocks eventually prevailed.
The Plymouth Rocks overcame a good performance by Salt Lake City second baseman Robert Montgomery to knock off Salt Lake City, 5-4, at Spirits Stadium. Montgomery was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tim Chuter, the winner, goes to 5-4. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 7.2 innings.
Plymouth used the clutch hitting of Manny Coronado to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Rocks the lead, 5-2. For the game, Coronado had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Plymouth manager Harris Harden.
With the win, the Rocks have a record of 54-47.
