|
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Dillon Bert, the Florida Men defeated the Pawnee ParksNRec, 9-6. Bert went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Men. José Ramos picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 6-6. Ed Hammons notched his 15th save in 17 chances.
Bert contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Florida in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-2, Bert took a sinker from Arthur Stevenson and stroked the home run to right. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Men to leap in front, 5-4.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Bert said (again).
The 7th-place Men sport a record of 48-50.
