Monsters Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Humpbacks
|
Timber Hawks Ballpark was the site for USPL Triple A action featuring the Alaskan Humpbacks and Monongahela Monsters.
The Monongahela Monsters topped the Alaskan Humpbacks, 6-2, in USPL Triple A action at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Monongahela pitcher Martin Elzey. Elzey, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
Ramón Marino hit a 3-run home run off Michael Shepard in the bottom of the first, which put the Monsters ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Marino had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero.
The 6th-place Monsters now have a win-loss record of 15-15.
