Fighting Dachshunds Beat Hot Chickens, 5-2
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds got a good effort from starter Anastasio Ayala in defeating the Nashville Hot Chickens at Dog Park in Ellenburg. The final score was 5-2. Ayala, now 4-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Ikaaka Iokia earned the save for Ellenburg, his 4th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Fighting Dachshunds had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Jeff McDonald hit a 2-run single. The single came off Chin-yau Tu and made the score 3-1, Fighting Dachshunds. McDonald was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI.
"Anastasio -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Fighting Dachshunds manager Marvin Hayes. "He was the key to us winning."
Ellenburg currently is in last place in the Menard's AAA at 30-54.
