Syracuse left-hander Bill Strain pitched his team to victory over the Norfolk Pajaritos at Norfolk Field. The final score was 3-2. Joel Baxter recorded the save, his 1st. The 5th-place Starks are now 11-10, the Pajaritos 10-11.
Syracuse relied on the bat of Ramiro Rivera to get the win. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Starks ahead, 3-1. For the game, Rivera had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Afterward, Starks manager Allen Carlson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
