Hot Chickens Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Blitzkrieg
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens weathered an outstanding game by Port Huron first baseman Maikel de Braber to topple the Blitzkrieg, 3-2. de Braber was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times. Wayne King earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4.2 innings. His record is now 1-1. Alejandro Colón earned the save, his 22nd, for the Hot Chickens.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Hot Chickens had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the second, when catcher Júlio Chacón hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Pablo Montoya and made the score 1-0, Hot Chickens. Chacón was 1-4 with a walk.
"Tough loss," said Port Huron manager Jack Alexander. "But we'll learn from it."
The 7th-place Hot Chickens sport a record of 34-34.
